I had David’s PAF’s and wiring harness installed and I can’t believe what a difference it made in my R9 Les Paul. I didn’t know what I missing but wow, it’s an incredible guitar now!
Excellent sounding Paf's
These pickups are alive! The neck is sweet, smoky, throaty and percussive but it still has great articulation and that cool chirp tone. The neck tones remind me of Mark Knopfler’s 58 burst tones on the Shangri-La album.
The bridge is rowdy and lively with great string articulation, every note rings out with hot, juicy, vintage tone! The bridge also has a good balance of tightness and sag, not spongy and weak like some PAF’s I’ve tried. I’m not normally an Alnico 2 guy because they can be spongy, but these are so good that they’ve pulled me away from Alnico 5. The bridge reminds me of the Billy Gibbons tones we all love.
Bridge and Neck together has a great chime and chirp.
Both respond to your hands and how you dig into the notes very well, they also react to your volume and tone knobs well.
Very inspiring, I played for hours after installing them. David is a pleasure to work with and will get you the tones you’re looking for! I found these from roknfnrol’s youtube channel, and I think his demo’s of these pickups do them justice! Love em! Would definitely buy another set.
These pickups deliver! They're highly responsive, w beefy output and clear, articulate cleans. Sensitive + powerful. The aged nickel covers look really killer as well.
