I wasn’t aware of who David was, but I liked some of the demos I saw on YouTube of Brickhouse pickups. When I found out about his background, I knew he was legit. I have Mojotone pickups in quite a few of my favorite guitars. I decided to give the Mason Deluxe set a try. I reached out to see if he could do 4 conductor wiring and he replied quickly that it was no problem. They arrived within a week and were nicely packaged with a handwritten note personally to me. Very impressive!
Hard part was deciding which guitar to put them in as none of them really needed upgraded. I settled on my Gibson LP Studio. I had the PCB replaced with hand-wired CTS pots (push/pull volume pots for coil splitting), Emerson bumblebee paper in oil caps (.022 bridge and .015 neck), and treble bleeds (I find even with 50’s wiring they are very useful if you’re using push/pulls). Just got it back yesterday and I can’t believe how clear, articulate, and bright they sound without being the least bit harsh. They split beautifully, too, so I can get a lot of variety out of them. If you like thick and muddy sounding humbuckers, then these aren’t for you. But if you like to hear each note ring out with clarity and brilliance, then these have that in spades.
The clarity and definition of the noiseless P-90-s are incredible. So clean and warm. A wonderful upgrade for my goldtop Les Paul. Thank David!
David is quickly becoming my favorite pickup maker. I have a set of the 1960 PAF’s, which are an outstanding Alnico II set. I’ve been looking for the right set for my R8 for a while now- while I liked the custombuckers, they always seemed to be a bit lacking in dynamic response and left me wanting a bit more. After seeing David coming out with a new set featuring Alnico IV magnets, I decided to give them a shot. These are absolutely fantastic. After dialing them in, it’s exactly what this particular guitar was missing. Neck and bridge give excellent clean tone- chimey, bright without being harsh, and very balanced. When you add dirt is where the magic really happens. They absolutely come to life with harmonics for days! Just a joy to play. They are also extremely versatile while retaining the voicing that makes PAF’s magical. Highly recommended!!

These pickups are alive! The neck is sweet, smoky, throaty and percussive but it still has great articulation and that cool chirp tone. The neck tones remind me of Mark Knopfler’s 58 burst tones on the Shangri-La album.
The bridge is rowdy and lively with great string articulation, every note rings out with hot, juicy, vintage tone! The bridge also has a good balance of tightness and sag, not spongy and weak like some PAF’s I’ve tried. I’m not normally an Alnico 2 guy because they can be spongy, but these are so good that they’ve pulled me away from Alnico 5. The bridge reminds me of the Billy Gibbons tones we all love.
Bridge and Neck together has a great chime and chirp.
Both respond to your hands and how you dig into the notes very well, they also react to your volume and tone knobs well.
Very inspiring, I played for hours after installing them. David is a pleasure to work with and will get you the tones you’re looking for! I found these from roknfnrol’s youtube channel, and I think his demo’s of these pickups do them justice! Love em! Would definitely buy another set.
These pickups deliver! They're highly responsive, w beefy output and clear, articulate cleans. Sensitive + powerful. The aged nickel covers look really killer as well.
I play out doors once a week and I love my LpJr but playing out doors in a parking lot with EV charger's I pick up a lot of hum. I talked to David and he recommended HBP90 I said send me one and im so glad I did. In the past I have tried hum canceling P90 and have not been impressed but Dave’s are fantastic the guitar has the feel and sound of a Jr but no hum. Try one you will like it.
